CSSH Research Development Initiative: Call for Proposals 

Seed funding is available for CSSH faculty to develop proposals that address CSSH research priorities and support research across Northeastern’s global campus network. Proposals can be submitted anytime. Awards of up to $7,500 are available. 

 

Constellation Energy: E2 Energy to Educate 

Constellation offers grants to students from sixth grade through college to address energy challenge. Proposals are due by Tuesday, 10/1/24. Awards up to $50,000 are available. 

 

Institute for Advanced Study 2025-2026 Residential Fellows: Digital (In) Equality 

Princeton’s School of Social Science invites applications for fellows under the theme of Digital (In)Equality. Scholars will explore digital inequality and equality across various contexts. Proposals are due by Tuesday, 10/15/24. Awards of up to $80,000 are available over the academic year. 

 

Institute for Citizens & Scholars: Career Enhancement Fellowship 

This fellowship supports exceptional junior faculty in the humanities and humanistic social sciences who contribute to campus diversity and innovative research. Proposals are due by Friday, 10/18/24. Awards up to $36,500 are available for up to one year. 

 

Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR): Amplifying Unheard Voices 

This program funds projects to digitize materials that highlight the histories of underrepresented communities, including Black, Indigenous, Latine, and other marginalized groups. Proposals are due by Wednesday, 10/30/24. Awards range from $50,000 to $300,000 over up to 3 years. 

 

National Science Foundation: Mid-scale Research Infrastructure-1 

This program supports design and implementation of significant Research Infrastructure (RI) projects, including facilities, equipment, and cyberinfrastructure. Pre-proposals are due by Monday, 11/18/24, with full proposals due by Wednesday, 3/19/25. Awards range from $4-10 million over up to 5 years. 

 

The Paul & Daily Soros Fellowships for New Americans: Call for Application 

This fellowship supports immigrants or their children pursuing graduate or professional degrees in the U.S. Proposals are due by Thursday, 10/31/24. Awards up to $90,000 are available over 1-2 years. 

 

The Dan David Prize: Call for Application 

This prize recognizes up to 9 outstanding early and mid-career scholars (within 15 years of their PhD) in historical disciplines. Eligible fields include history, archaeology, art history, digital humanities, and human palaeontology. Applications are due by Monday, 9/30/24. The award is $300,000. 

 

National Science Foundation: Human-Environment and Geographical Sciences Program – Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement Awards (HEGS-DDRI) 

The Human-Environment and Geographical Sciences Program supports basic research on the spatial distribution of human activity and environmental processes. Full Proposals Due: rolling; Award Information: up to $20,000. 

 

National Science Foundation: Workplace Equity for Persons with Disabilities in STEM and STEM Education  

Proposals should focus on studying barriers and solutions to DEIA, applying intersectional social identity perspectives, or conducting use-inspired translational research. Full Proposals Due: Tuesday, 9/17/24; Award Information: ~$300,000 total over up to 3 years. 

 

National Science Foundation: Focus on Recruiting Emerging Climate and Adaptation Scientists and Transformers (FORECAST) 

FORECAST seeks proposals to prepare students for work environments and community-driven science. Deadline: 10/31/24 (Internal), 1/29/25 (Proposals); Award: up to $7.5 M over 5 years. 

 

Louisville Institute: Grant for Researchers 

The Louisville Institute Grant for Researchers (GFR) supports academic research in North American Christianity and related fields, covering topics like Christian faith, ministry, religious trends, and social issues. Proposals Due: Sunday, 9/15/24; Award: up to $55,000 over up to 20 months. 

 

College of Social Science and Humanities: Call for Proposal for the CSSH Research Development Initiative (RDI)  

RDI awards provide faculty members with seed funding to help develop proposals. Contact Northeastern’s Kate Duggan or Natasha Frost. Proposals Due: submit anytime. Award Information: up to $7,500 total. 

 

National Institutes of Health: Health Influences of Gender as a Social and Structural Variable  

The NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) notice of research and training grant applications focused on health impacts of gender-related social and structural variables. Proposals Due: Varies by grant mechanism; open through 9/30/25.

 

Institute of Education Sciences: Statistical and Research Methodology in the Education Sciences 

The program welcomes applications focusing on core grants for advancing statistical and research methods in education or creating toolkits, guidelines, and curated data resources. Proposals Due: Thursday, 9/12/24; Award: up to $800,000 total over up to 5 years.
