SUMMER YOUTH JOBS PROGRAM

This summer, we have a wide array of positions open on our campus for Boston resident teens ages 14-18 including opportunities to work in Administration, Marketing, Community Engagement, Student Services, Facilities, as a participant in our Bridge to Calculus program. We also have a limited number of opportunities for young adults ages 19-24 as peer Summer Leaders to help with program activities and serve as a mentor for younger peers.

This program runs June 24th – August 16th.

2024 APPLICATION – NOW OPEN!

  • Online application opens: March 4, 2024
  • First Hiring Decision priority deadline: April 4, 2024
  • Final application deadline: May 1, 2024
  • Interviews for qualified applicants will be scheduled until all positions are filled.

YOUTH SUMMER INTERNSHIP DETAILS (AGE 14-18)

  • Paid employment for youth ages 14 to 18.
  • Job length: 7 weeks long
  • Hours/wages: Up to 25 hours/week at $15.00/hour; wages are paid every two weeks. Maximum 175 hours for the summer.
  • Must be a resident of the City of Boston

SUCCESSLINK LEADER LEADER DETAILS (AGE 19-24)

  • Paid employment for youth ages 19 to 24.
  • Job length: 8 weeks long
  • Hours/wages: Up to 30 hours/week at $20.00/hour; wages are paid every two weeks. Maximum 240 hours for the summer.
  • Must be a resident of the City of Boston

Description of job opportunities

Bridge to Calculus Intern (Boston Public Schools students, ages 14-18)

Interns will participate in Northeastern’s Bridge to Calculus (BtC) program to take and achieve in advanced math classes. The program is designed primarily for rising seniors and juniors to bridge the gap in calculus learning  through a 6-week summer calculus course. Interns will receive daily instruction consisting of tests and quizzes to prepare students for college calculus. They will also participate in non-Math sessions such as physics, chemistry, biology, robotics,  game programming, and financial literacy.

IMPORTANT: Bridge to Calculus Interns must also register in BPS SchoolMint, which will be activated by BPS in April 2024.

Summer Internship (ages 14-18)

Administrative/Marketing/Community Engagement Intern: Interns will be responsible for communications activities (answering phones, responding to email, greeting people), information technology activities (maintaining systems, assisting help deck), data collection activities (scanning, data entry and filing documents), marketing activities (creation and distribution of materials, events), and assisting with program development.

Student Services/Facilities Intern: Interns will assist with providing services for activities related to admissions, housing, dining, athletics, daycare, or facilities. Depending on the assignment, the intern will support programs operations with customer service, inventory management, housing and food services, recreation and sports activities, care and instruction for daycare center children, or events and grounds maintenance.

SuccessLink Leader (ages 19-24)

SuccessLink Leaders will support youth Interns from 14 to 18 years old to have a successful early employment experience. You will assist with providing services for and mentorship to a group of younger peers, including hosting weekly lunches, and educational, team building, and fun events. You will be the primary contact to help Interns troubleshoot issues they are experiencing with their internship, and as a liaison with the Northeastern Boston Summer Internship staff. Leaders will receive training in leadership development and professional skill building.
