Greater Boston Summer Jobs
Higher Ed Consortium
New College Exploration Opportunities for 2024
There are three ways that youth can engage with these higher education institutions and be paid for up to 25 hours per week for 7 weeks:
Youth are employed in a job on campus (e.g., facilities, dining, admissions, housing, athletics)
Youth participate in a program (e.g., Bridge to Calculus) or curriculum (e.g, not for credit) at no cost to them
Some combination of the two
These opportunities enable youth to learn valuable skills that prepare them for the workforce or for college while earning an income, rather than just getting a paycheck.
Summer jobs provide an opportunity for Boston-area youth to engage in meaningful job experiences on a college campus, raising academic aspirations and providing a pathway into higher education.
Research evidence shows that summer youth employment programs increase the likelihood of high school graduation and boost college enrollment at 4-year institutions.*
