JOSH LOWN
Josh Lown is a community-engaged researcher living in the East Boston neighborhood of Boston, MA. He received his PhD in social work from Boston College in 2023, where he studied housing, gentrification, environmental justice, and community capacity building through a community-engaged, radical and abolitionist social work lens. His dissertation utilized community-based and participatory research and GIS methods to explore the perspectives and impacts of gentrification on long-time residents of East Boston. His research will continue to focus on the relationship between urban environmental justice, gentrification, and social control from a geospatial and community-engaged perspective.
